Truschel, William K. C. (Self Taught Folk Artist worked near Pittsburgh; 20th Century American), The Hairy Widow Schmaltz, 1960's, oil on panel, signed KCT 9684E bottom right, titled on reverse, 30.5 x 24 inches, framed 32.75 x 26.5 inches. This image appears to be a play on Andy Warhol's famous portrait of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Truschel was an unknown, self-taught painter from Bradford Woods near Pittsburgh. He painted from 1962-1967 and his work was never shown during his lifetime. His paintings often display themes of man’s shortcomings. His work was exhibited at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in 2002. Provenance: The Estate of Bruce Baker, Pittsburgh, PA.
