2 nkisi n'kondi power figures with nails, Kongo peoples (or after), Democratic Republic of the Congo. Large carved wood figure with loofa and other materials, wrapped with rattan, 8 compartments, including 3 on the headdress. 54.5 x 15 x 15 inches. Smaller carved wood figure with abdominal cavity. 30 x 11 x 11 inches. Provenance: From a large lot of African art purchased by a collector from a storage space buyer, story featured in the LA Times, 2004.
