McChesney, Ruth (American/Western PA, 1915-2004), Madame S. Miniature Room Boxes, Bedroom and Bathroom, mid 20th century, mixed media. Titled in ink on the upper panel of the Bathroom box. Depicting a Madame and her lady's maid as mice, going about daily activities. Bedroom 8.5 x 13 x 7.25 inches, bathroom 8.5 x 12.75 x 7.75 inches. McChesney was best known for her work in miniatures. She was a member of the International Guild of Miniature Artisans, working with experts in the field worldwide. Most of her rooms are on permanent display in museums including the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh, Westmoreland Museum of American Art, The American Museum in Bath, England, Winterthur, The Toy and Miniature Museum in Kansas City, Sewickley Historical Society, among others.
