Eero Saarinen (Finnish, 1910-1961) for Knoll Associates, Inc. Executive chairs, USA, mid 20th century. Armless Model 72, 1961-1970, in original red upholstery, tubular steel legs, with Knoll Associates 320 Park Avenue label at underside, 32 x 22 x 19 inches. Armchair Model 71, 1950-1961, in original gold upholstery, tubular steel legs, with Knoll Associates 575 Madison Avenue label at underside, 31 x 26.5 x 22.5 inches. Provenance: Personal collection of Edward J. Grzybowski, co-owner of Tri-State Antiques in Canonsburg, PA. Ed was well known and respected in the field for his vast knowledge of antiques and decorative arts, particularly 20th century design.
Upholstery with some accretions. One chair with upholstery repair at underside. Oxidation on legs. Interior foam disintegrating.
