Sottsass, Ettore, for Memphis Milano, Casablanca Cupboard in HPL print laminate, designed in 1981, produced in 1982, all original components are present, 87 x 59.5 x 15.25 inches. The most recognizable of all the Memphis pieces. This cabinet graced the back cover of The Penguin Dictionary of Decorative Arts (1989) where it was called the firm's "paradigmatic masterpiece." Exhibited: Memphis Milano: The Collection of David and Vivian Campbell, Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto. Provenance: Purchased Urban Architecture, Detroit; David and Vivian Campbell, Toronto, Canada; private collection, Pittsburgh, PA. Other examples of the same design are held in prominent collections around the world, including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Condition
