Gist, George Sonny Wellington (American/Milwaukee/Pittsburgh, 1951-2020), Negro League Baseball Player, c.2000, mixed media collage with paper, paint, pencil and glue on board, unsigned, 48.5 x 48 inches, unframed. George Gist was considered to be one of the top African American muralists in the country. George’s painting, sculpting, jewelry making, and murals are shown across the country, specifically in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and in his last city of residence, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
