Nakashima, George (Japanese/American, 1905-1990), Cushion Chair, c.late 1950s, cherry wood, green upholstery that is attached to the frame, slatted back, marked VII on the underside of the back and also at the connection point where the top meet the base, 30.5 x 24 x 33 inches.

Condition

In good vintage, sturdy condition, the most notable issue is that the present upholstery has been attached to the chair using a total of 8 screws - 4 on the back and 4 underneath the seat. Otherwise, the cushion filling is dry and disintegrating, staining to upholstery, small ink mark to right rail of upper piece, accretions to upper back rail, usage related scratching to the legs, scratched and dented to one area at the lower right rail, 2 small scrapes to back.
