After Baron Jolly, engraved by W. O. Geller, Franklin's Reception at the Court of France 1778, mezzotint, originally done in 1853, this one was likely printed in the late 19th or early 20th century, with later handpainted coloring including exquisite details in the clothing, jewelry and hair decorations, sheet size 27.5 x 39.5 inches, linen backed, in an old Gillespie Gallery frame 32 x 44 inches. The image famously shows the historical and important meeting between Benjamin Franklin and Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette and their court at Versailles in 1778 to secure the Treaty of Alliance with France.
