Scheuch, Harry William (American/Pittsburgh, 1906-1978), Market Scene [likely influenced by the Hill District neighborhood of Pittsburgh], 1961, oil on thin board, signed and dated lower left, 10 x 8 inches, framed 14.5 x 12.5 inches. Provenance: acquired from Royal York Auctions, Pittsburgh, PA Scheuch attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1928 and stayed in Pittsburgh for the rest of his life. He found employment with the federal government's Works Progress Administration and served as the head of the Federal Art Project in Pittsburgh from 1937-1940. He was a frequent participant in the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh's annual shows, and also had paintings in the 1947 and 1948 Annual Exhibition of Contemporary American Painting at the Whitney Museum.
