Early 20th century American school, Horseshoe Curve, Altoona, PA, undated, c.1900, oil on canvas, apparently unsigned, 19.75 x 30 inches, framed 22.5 x 32.5 inches. Provenance: The estate of Donald T. Mervine, Western Pennsylvania, sold to benefit the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. Old title label (possibly from Eichleay) and a Wunderly Brothers Galleries sticker on the stretcher bar. A well rendered turn of the century painting showing two trains on the famous three-track railroad curve in Altoona, Pennsylvania, a couple hours East of Pittsburgh.
Small patched area with inpainting near the upper right corner, otherwise in good condition, stable crazing in the upper half.
