Carroll, Lewis, illustrated by Henry Holiday, The Hunting of the Snark, 1993, number 146 of 430 copies, hardcover, quarter bound in cloth over boards, in matching slipcase, this edition is notable for being the first where Holiday's illustrations are printed from the original wood-engraved blocks (the illustrations in the first edition of 1876 were printed from electrotypes), the book was commissioned by Macmillan Publishers to celebrate their 150th anniversary. Rare - with no copies currently for sale on the market. Provenance: deaccessioned from a regional institution; will include a letter of deaccession from the institution.

Condition

Two small library stamps, including one Withdrawn stamp, to the rear endpaper, otherwise in Near Fine condition; slipcase lightly handled.
