Fischer, Karen (American, Contemporary), Anasazi Pot and Shards, watercolor on paper above shards of ancient Anasazi pottery, 2006, signed and dated at lower right. The watercolor was inspired by the four Anasazi pot shards which are mounted beneath it. Anasazi refers to the Ancestral Pueblo people who spanned the present-day Four Corners region of the United States, including Mesa Verde, Chaco Canyon, Canyon De Chelly, and Aztec from A.D. 200 to A.D. 1300. The Anasazi were known for creating beautifully crafted pottery using the coil and scrape method. Image approximately 8 x 12.5 inches, pottery shards ranging in size from 1.5 to 4 inches, all beautifully matted and in a 21.5 x 23.25 inch frame. Karen Fischer is a potter, painter, and educator living in the Western United States. Provenance: Acquired from the artist.
