Hetzel, Lila Barr (American/Western PA, 1873-1967), Great Crossings Bridge, 1924, pastel on wove paper, titled, annotated (Somerfield, PA, Somerset Co.) and dated at lower left, appears to be unsigned, although green scribble at lower right corner could be LH, 11 x 12 inches, unframed. Provenance: gift from the artist to a close family friend. Lila Hetzel was born in Edgewood, Pittsburgh, and was the daughter of George Hetzel who founded the Scalp Level School. The Great Crossings Bridge was built in 1818 out of sandstone and spans the Youghiogheny River from Somerset to Fayette County.
