Dessar, Louis Paul (American/Indiana/France, 1867-1952), Shepherd with Sheep Under Tree, 1910, oil on canvas, 28 x 36 inches, signed and dated lower right, an interesting Tonalist modernist landscape framed in a grand Neoclassical Exhibition frame with very extensive scrolling and high relief decorations measuring 42 x 50 inches. Old label from the Folsom Gallery, which operated in New York City from 1911-1921, attached to the back of the frame. Provenance: The Estate of Charles G. Pauli, Pittsburgh, PA.
