Leithauser, Mark Alan (American/District Of Columbia/Michigan, b.1950), The Migration, 1976, etching on paper, numbered 71/125, signed, numbered, and titled in pencil along lower edge. Leithauser received his art training at Wayne State University in Detroit where he earned an M.F.A. in studio art. He taught drawing at the University and was the curator of the Troy Historical Museum in Troy, Michigan. In 1974, he was hired in Washington D.C. as an etcher at the National Gallery, where he is currently the Senior Curator and Chief of Design. He has been exclusively represented by Hollis Taggart Galleries in New York City for over ten years. He has exhibited at Coe Kerr Gallery in New York, the Hom Gallery in Washington D.C., the Brooklyn Museum, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the National Museum of American Art, and the Library of Congress among others. Leithauser has served as an artist-in-residence at the Speed Museum in Louisville, KY, and as a panelist for the Coalition of Washington Artists. He was also a member of the advisory board for the Art Barn in Washington DC. In addition he has published drawings for the Washington Post and designed numerous book cover illustrations. Image 12 x 15 inches. Matted and in a 20 x 22.5 inch silvered wooden frame. Provenance: The Estate of John F. Beamer, Jr., State College, PA. In seemingly good condition unexamined outside of the frame. Merchandise will be packed and transported by the purchaser at their own risk and expense.
