The Nurseryman's Specimen Book of American Horticulture and Floriculture, Fruits, Flowers, Ornamental Trees, Shrubs, Roses, c.1880s, hardcover, original green cloth, illustrated with 50 chromolithograph plates showing fruit, flowers and trees, plus colored titled page, frontis, an original photograph of grapes and many black and white illustrations, published by D. M. Dewey, Rochester, NY, 64 pp., 9 x 6 inches. A rare and visually stunning catalog from Dewey, who pioneered the production of high quality color plates for the use of advertising fruits and flowers. This book includes berries, peaches, apples, pears, grapes, roses and many different trees.

Condition

Fair condition, hinges and spine crudely repaired, covers heavily rubbed, worn and stained; plates in good condition, some toning but generally clean and bright colors.
