Piranesi, Giovanni Battista (Italian, 1720-1778), Pair of Prints from Architecture and Perspectives: Foro Antico Romano (Roman Forum) and Galleria Grande di Statue, mid to late 18th century, etchings on paper, impression sizes 9.75 x 14 inches, uniformly matted and framed 18 x 22.5 inches. Two plates from Prima Parte di Architettura, e Prospettive [First Part, Architecture and Perspectives], Piranesi's famous work showing Roman views, first printed in 1750. Provenance: The estate of Donald T. Mervine, Western Pennsylvania, sold to benefit the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium.
