Ludick, Paul (American, b.1957), December Chair, 1991, cold rolled steel, bent maple plywood, 32 x 25 x 25 inches. Part of Ludick's limited edition “Furniture of the Month Club” with a calendar showing a different piece of furniture for each month. Paul remembers the series was introduced in Metropolitan Home Magazine around 1991. Ludick was part of the Art et Industrie movement, which began in the late 1970s. The movement challenged the concept of function vs. design in furniture making within the United States. Ludick exhibited at Art et Industrie, Bernice Steinbaum Gallery, and Magen H Gallery among others. His works are part of both private and public collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the San Francisco Museum of Art. Provenance: Acquired from the artist.
Condition
in good condition with stain on the seat and the steel had corrosion recently removed with a wire brush and drill, otherwise in good condition.
