Piranesi, Giovanni Battista (Italian, 1720-1778), Veduta del Ponte e Castello Sant'Angelo, c.1754, etching on heavy laid paper, impression 14.75 x 23 inches, full sheet 19.5 x 29.5 inches, unframed. A single plate from Vedute di Roma, Piranesi's famous mid-18th century work showing Roman buildings, ruins and monuments. Provenance: from the collection of a retired librarian of art and architecture at Columbia University.
In good condition, folded once down the center, light creasing to the margins; the sheet appears to have undergone a professional reduction of discoloration at some point.
