Gignoux, Regis (French/American, Hudson River School, 1816-1882), a pair of paintings showing paths in the woods of Bedford, New York, one oil on canvas the other oil on artist's board, c. 1850, both unsigned, both 7.75 x 11.5 inches in plain wood frames. The title is attributed from Gignoux's own notebook where he recorded all of his works and sales -- these with his inventory numbers 83 (canvas / figure on horseback) and 82 (board / woman with umbrella) on the reverse. Provenance: From the estate of Arthur B. de Saint Maurice, the great-grandson of Regis Gignoux.
