Gignoux, Regis (French/American, Hudson River School, 1816-1882), View of the Coast of Normandy, c.late 1870s, watercolor on paper, signed bottom left, 10 x 13.75 inches, matted and framed 19 x 23 inches. Title taken from Gignoux's own notebook where he recorded all of his works and sales -- this one with his inventory number 186 on the reverse. Painted in the last decade of Gignoux's life, following his return to his native France in 1870. Provenance: From the estate of Arthur B. de Saint Maurice, the great-grandson of Regis Gignoux.
