Gignoux, Regis (French/American, Hudson River School, 1816-1882), On the Rhone (Old Style), watercolor, c.1870s, signed lower left, 6.25 x 9.75 inches, matted and framed 14.5 x 18 inches. Title attributed from Gignoux's own notebook where he recorded all of his works and sales -- this one with his inventory number 162 on the reverse. A tranquil scene of the Rhone River, likely painted after 1870, when Gignoux returned to his native France. Provenance: From the estate of Arthur B. de Saint Maurice, the great-grandson of Regis Gignoux.
