Brandt, Rex (American/California, 1914-2000), Chocolate Mountains, 1963, watercolor on paper, California School of Watercolor. Landscape depicting the California desert east of the Salton Sea. Signed, titled, and dated in pencil at lower center. Adamson-Duvannes Galleries labels verso including artist information and provenance. Sheet 13 x 19 inches, nicely matted and in a wooden frame 21.5 x 27.25 inches. Rex Brandt was a watercolorist and one of the central figures who developed the California Style/California School of Watercolor. He attended the Chouinard Art Institute, Riverdale Junior College, and the University of California at Berkeley where he studied under Hans Hofmann. He was an educator and prolific artist, working up until his death. His works are included in numerous private and public collections worldwide. Provenance: Adamson-Duvannes Galleries; The Philip H.
