Rauschenberg, Robert (American, 1925-2008), Opal Gospel, 1971, ten screenprints on movable acrylic sheets, in Lucite base with stainless steel cover, each panel signed, dated and numbered 27/230 to the lower edge, also etched signature and limitation on the back of the cover. Each panel 18 x 20 inches. Total dimensions are 21.5 x 22.5 x 6.75 inches. Produced by Styria Studio, New York, and published by Racolin Press. One of Rauschenberg's best known multiples. A three-dimensional book consisting of Native American stories, songs, poems and found imagery that encourages the viewer to engage with the work and rearrange the panels to alter the appearance and meaning.
