Wilson, S. Clay (American, 1941-2021), 1st Ides of March Party, 1976, original illustration with ink and white-out enhancements, dated and inscribed Hank's Graphics in the lower left, image size 6 x 8.75 inches, sheet size 7.5 x 10.5 inches, matted and framed 13 x 16 inches. Provenance: The estate of Chuck Kinder and Diane Cecily, Pittsburgh, PA. This lot comes with a note from Diane Cecily that lists the date, titled and names of the party attendees, from left to right: Jon Jackson, Ruth Jackson, Raymond Carver (as shirtless smoker), Diane Cecily, S. Clay Wilson ('Bring coke, jokes, dope, hooch, ice...'), Marianne Carver, Unknown (asking for autograph), Max Crawford, Chuck Kinder (passed out on the floor). Steve Clay Wilson was an important artist in the underground comix scene and one of the founding members of the Zap collective. Wilson's friendship with Chuck and Diane started in California in the early 1970s.
