Nesbert, Vincent (Polish/American, 1898-1976), Still Life with Flowers, 1940s, oil on masonite, apparently unsigned, 23.5 x 18 inches, in a carved wood frame 27.5 x 21 inches. With remnants of an old exhibition label on the reverse, likely from an Associated Artist of Pittsburgh show in the mid to late '40s. Provenance: acquired directly from the artist. Vincent Nesbert was born in Telechany, Poland and immigrated to Pittsburgh in the mid 1910s. He joined the faculty of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in August 1928, and later served as dean for many years.
