Mossi Biiga fertility doll on stand, carved and incised wooden figure depicting a highly stylized abstracted woman, Burkina Faso, West Africa, 19th to early 20th century. 11 x 2.25 x 2.5 inches, stand .5 x 2.75 x 2.75 inches. Provenance: From the estate of Leon A. Arkus, former Director of the Carnegie Museum of Art. Acquired in 1980, Sam Hilu's Primitive Arts LTD., New York, NY.
