Highly figured French Art Deco style Macassar ebony writing desk in the manner of Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann, late 20th century. Beautiful silhouette with tapered legs featuring lacquered elements in an ivory color. One drawer at front center. Shaped glass resting on the top surface. Apparently unmarked. 29 x 49 x 26 inches. Provenance: Personal collection of Edward J. Grzybowski, co-owner of Tri-State Antiques in Canonsburg, PA. Ed was well known and respected in the field for his vast knowledge of antiques and decorative arts, particularly 20th century design.
In overall good condition. Ink and pencil marks on the drawer interior. Some usage related wear and areas with lacquer loss, particularly throughout the ivory finish areas. Abrasion on the rear left leg. Merchandise will be packed and transported by the purchaser at their own risk and expense.
