Calogero, Eugene Daniel (Italian-American, b.1932), Dollar Bill and Coins, 1952, oil on board, signed (as the Treasurer!) and dated within the dollar bill, 14 x 18 inches, in a custom wood frame 21 x 25 inches, a few ink sketches on the verso. Rare. Almost no information exists online about the artist. Provenance: Concept Gallery auction, November 2005; the personal collection of Gary S. Grimes, Pittsburgh. Gary was an expert on Western Pennsylvania art, and especially the Scalp Level painters. In good condition, apart from surface dirt and a horizontal line of varnish staining along the top edge.
