Gist, George Sonny Wellington (American/Milwaukee/Pittsburgh, 1951-2020), Portrait of a Black Boy, c.2000, mixed media with oil and glitter on board, signed lower left, 24 x 18 inches, in a wood frame 30 x 24 inches. Provenance: acquired directly from the artist, Hill District neighborhood, Pittsburgh, PA. George Gist was considered to be one of the top African-American muralists in the country. His paintings, sculptures, jewelry and murals are shown across the country, especially in his hometown of Detroit, Milwaukee, and in his last city of residence, Pittsburgh.
