Bursztynowicz, Henry (American/Western Pennsylvania, 1922-2001), Wall Sculpture, mid 20th century, patinated welded steel, depicting a housing structure with several figures in different states moving throughout, apparently unsigned, 39 x 28 x 5 inches. Bursztynowicz was a regional Western Pennsylvania sculptor working around the height of the abstract expressionist movement. Bursztynowicz received his education from the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University), the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan, and Instituto del Arte, Florence, Italy. He was a faculty member at the University of Missouri and he taught at Pittsburgh Arts and Crafts Center (now Pittsburgh Center for the Arts). Pittsburgh Center for the Arts honored Henry Bursztynowicz with a retrospective of his works in 2009.
