Zaage, Herman (American, 1927-2008), 7 prints made for two different book projects, 4 for Multiple Modern Gods and 3 for Abraxas, 1964, block prints on thin handmade paper, each signed, titled, dated and marked Artist's Proof in pencil to lower margin, sheet sizes 12.5 x 18.5 inches, all unframed. These images were made for 2 books: Multiple Modern Gods by Stanley Berne, and Abraxas by Arlene Zekowski. Both were published by George Wittenborn for their Archives of Modern Literature Series. In the books, the prints were reproduced in facsimile in a much smaller format. Herman Zaage was born in Jersey City and studied in WPA workshops in the 1940s, eventually working closely with printmaker John Ross. Berne and Zekowski were husband and wife.
