Lieb, Leonard (Polish/American/Pittsburgh, 1912-1977), Hill District Scene, Pittsburgh, 1940, oil on board, signed and dated lower right, 36 x 28 inches, in the artist's black wood strip frame. Provenance: estate of the artist. A powerful social realist image showing an African-American family, highly influenced by the work of his teacher, Samuel Rosenberg.

Condition

In good condition with a layer of surface dirt; some cracking in the lower half (although possibly inherent, to show the damaged streets); other light, age appropriate surface wear.
