Title and date taken from Gignoux's own notebook where he recorded all of his works and sales -- this one with his inventory number 80 on the reverse. Villeneuve is a small Swiss village that sits on the coast of Lake Geneva. Painted one year before Gignoux's death in 1882. Provenance: From the estate of Arthur B. de Saint Maurice, the great-grandson of Regis Gignoux.
