Gignoux, Regis (French/American, Hudson River School, 1816-1882), Villeneuve, Switzerland, 1881, watercolor on paper, signed bottom right, 11 x 17 inches, matted and framed 18 x 24 inches. Title and date taken from Gignoux's own notebook where he recorded all of his works and sales -- this one with his inventory number 80 on the reverse. Villeneuve is a small Swiss village that sits on the coast of Lake Geneva. Painted one year before Gignoux's death in 1882. Provenance: From the estate of Arthur B. de Saint Maurice, the great-grandson of Regis Gignoux.
