Set of 4 Chippendale style highly carved armchairs, 20th century. Crest rails with carved scrolling and foliate motif over pierced ribbon form back splats. Resting on cabriole legs with shell motif at knees, terminating in claw and ball feet. Seats upholstered in detailed cross stitch textile after the 16th century 'The lady and the Unicorn' tapestry. 41 x 25.5 x 24 inches, seat height 19 inches. Provenance: Estate of Charles G. Pauli, Pittsburgh, PA.
